We are excited to offer a Maine Guide Training Course for individuals that are interested in learning the highly respected trade of guiding fishing, hunting and canoe camping in Maine.  We will be offering a three day, four night course that will teach you the ins and outs of getting your Maine Guide license in the disciplines of fishing, hunting and/or recreation (camping, hiking, canoeing). In addition to the classroom work, you will learn the art of cooking on an open fire each day with focus placed on preparing different types of meat, potatoes and onions as well as the secret to making our world famous Maine Guide coffee. Successful candidates will be considered for full or part-time guide positions at Weatherby’s in 2026 and beyond.

Course Dates

May 8,9,10 2026
• Cost $1499 PP for four nights lodging, all meals, private room in a shared cabin, three full days of instruction, all course materials. Not included – gratuities for lodge staff.

• $600 PP for three days of classroom instruction only (for local and camping participants) Not included – lodging and meals.

Military veterans and Active Duty military can qualify for full reimbursement upon successful completion of this course.
